Look
on the internet so you can view some of their work and read
information, prices and feedback before scheduling a trial
this way you have
an idea of the work they do and if this is what you're looking
for. When you do schedule your trial, book it in the daytime
so you can see what your makeup will look like during the
day - it's also a good idea to choose a date when you have
another function as once your makeup is done you'll want to
go out!
Have a close friend or family member with you at your trial
that you know will give you an honest opinion. Be careful
not to bring too many people as you may get confused with
too many opinions! At your trial, get to know the makeup artist
so you feel comfortable. The makeup artist should be getting
to know you as well and asking questions such as colour/style
of your dress, bridesmaids dresses and flowers. This will
help to create a makeup look to go with your personal style
and compliment the colours around you on the day. Have pictures
from magazines to show the make-up artist various looks that
appeal to you. Mention if you have any skin problems or allergies
etc, or if there are any particular ways you like to wear
your make-up. It's also great if the makeup artist notes down
the look you have decided on for the day so you're guranteed
the same look you're happy with without the risk of the makeup
artist forgetting what they have done at the trial. This will
give you reassurance and peace of mind.
Look at the cleanliness of the makeup artist, if brushes are
cleaned and sterilised and if disposables are used such as
mascara wands. You don't want a mascara wand touching your
lashes if it's been used on other clients as this can easily
transmit conjunctivitis. The same goes for lipsticks and cold
sores.
Once you've chosen your makeup artist, start a beauty routine
as soon as possible to have your skin in top condition for
the big day. Wash and moisturise your face morning and night
to keep your pores clean and give your skin the moisture it
needs. Exfoliate once or twice a week to get rid of dead skin
otherwise your makeup clings to dead skin showing it up. A
facial is also recommended once a month which is a more intense
treatment than what you do yourself at home and is also a
good chance to relax from the stresses of planning a wedding!
